We are a group of women, consecrated to Mary, who come together once a month in honor of – and in service to-- The Immaculate Conception.
Our mission is twofold:
To deepen in ourselves, and promote to others
a true and active devotion to Mary
-- AND --
To invoke her intercession through devout prayer
We lovingly and joyfully strive to achieve this through the following activities:
At every meeting :
- We wear our blessed Miraculous Medals in solidarity and devotion to Mary. (We also wear our medals on all of Our Lady's special Feast days)
- Sing hymns in her honor
- Say the prayer to the Immaculate Conception, followed by the Immaculate Conception Novena for various intentions, and the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary
- Read from a Marian book, so that we may learn how to emulate her more perfectly
- Hear an enlightening commentary from Abouna regarding the reading
- Recite the Rosary
- Hold a round table discussion regarding Sorority business and upcoming events
- We choose a paragraph, after discussing our reading, to be put in the Church's monthly newsletter
Through out the year :
We celebrate certain Feast Days of Our Lady in a special way, and on those days we act as “greeters” and/or ushers at the Divine Liturgy and occasionally host a reception afterwards. Feast Days are as follows:
- February 11 th – Our Lady of Lourdes
- First Sunday of May – Our Lady of Lebanon
- August 15 th – The Assumption of the Virgin Mary
- September 8 th —Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
- First Sunday of October – Feast of the Most Holy Rosary
- Fourth Sunday of November – The Announcement to the Virgin Mary
- December 8 th – The Immaculate Conception
- December 12 th – Our Lady of Guadalupe
- December 26 th – Felicitations to the Virgin Mary
Through out the year we also :
- Lead processions to our “Mariam, Mother of Life” Shrine, carrying our Sorority Banner which bears the image of Mary, The Immaculate Conception.
- Do acts of charity as the need arises and the Holy Spirit directs
Once a year :
- On the third Friday during Lent we commit to attending as a group, the Benediction of the Holy Cross
- For our annual Marian and Lebanese Food Festival we carry our banner in the procession during the opening ceremony of The Crowning of Mary, and we host a booth
- In October we take turns praying the rosary in Church for the “Month of the Rosary”
- November 29 th through December 7 th we privately, but in solidarity, pray the Immaculate Conception Novena
Evey two years:
A new President and Secretary are voted into office and their installation ceremony takes place on the Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception. |
